CODE OF CONDUCT

PARENT’S CODE OF CONDUCT:

  • I will provide positive support, care and encouragement for my child by following the Parent’s Code of Conduct.
  • I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches and officials at every game, practice or event.
  • I will place the emotional and physical well-being of the children ahead of a personal desire to win and remember that the game is for the girls and not the adults.
  • I will insist that my child play in a safe and healthy environment.
  • I will support the coaches and officials working with my child in order to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all. To support my child, I will become involved with the team and the League.
  • I will treat other players, coaches, fans and officials with respect regardless of position, race, sex, creed or ability.
  • I will not use foul or abusive language or gestures to any other players, coach, umpire or league official.
  • I understand that the Parent’s Code of Conduct extends to all family members, including siblings and grandparents, in attendance at games.
  • I understand that the Rock Board of Directors reserves the right to suspend or ban parents from attending games.
  • I understand that my failure or a family member’s failure to observe a suspension or banning may result in my child’s suspension for the remainder of season.


PLAYER’S CODE OF CONDUCT:

  • I will treat the coaches, other players, officials and fans with respect regardless of position, race, sex, creed or abilities.
  • I will demonstrate good sportsmanship.
  • I will attend every practice and game that I can and I will notify my coach in advance when I cannot.
  • I will do my best to listen to and to learn from my coaches.

 

COACH'S CODE OF CONDUCT:

  • Coaches will use their position as a Newtown Rock Softball Association (NRSA) Coach to represent the NRSA with respect and in a positive manner to players, families, coaches, sanctioning organizations, vendors, tournament organizers and attendees.
  • Coaches will not engage in, or encourage any other person to engage in, the use of profanity or unsportsmanlike conduct with any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.
  • Coaches will not engage in, or encourage any other person to engage in, any behavior which would endanger the health, safety or well being of any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.
  • Coaches will not use drugs or alcohol, or encourage any other person to engage in the use of drugs or alcohol, while at a youth sports event or NRSA activity and will not attend, coach, officiate or participate in a youth sports event while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
  • Coaches will treat, and will encourage other persons to treat, any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee with respect regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation or ability.
  • Coaches will not engage in, or encourage any other person to engage in, verbal or physical threats or abuse aimed at any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.
  • Coaches will not initiate, or encourage any other person to initiate, a fight or scuffle with any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.

ORGANIZATION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coaches understand that they serve at the discretion of the NRSA Board of Directors.
  • Coaches understand that the NRSA Board may make all rulings, including suspension, dismissal or transferring participants and coaches, as necessary.
  • Coaches will comply with the decisions of the NRSA and observe all rules, policies and procedures as established or endorsed by the NRSA Board of Directors.
  • Coaches understand that the Travel Director serves as the liaison between the Travel teams/coaches and the NRSA Board of Directors.
  • Coaches understand that the terms Newtown Rock Softball Association, Rock Softball, etc. are the property of the Newtown Rock Softball Association. 
  • Coaches understand that serving as a Coach is a privilege and Coaches do not own the rights to any team, players, equipment, name or other property of NRSA.
  • Coaches agree to attend all required Coach meetings.

 

SKILLS AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Coaches acknowledge the need to demonstrate fundamental proficiencies with respect to the game of softball and first aid. Consequently, all coaches agree to attend, any skill sessions that may be required by the NRSA, and moreover, any first aid courses that may be mandated by the NRSA.
  • Coaches are required to complete the ASA ACE certification Levels (1-2 minimally), in addition to the ASA Background Check, on an annual basis.

TEAM FINANCES:

  • Coaches (or their delegates) are required to manage their team finances, including: the team bank account, fund collections and disbursements, and fundraising, in accordance with the rules and guidelines established by the NRSA Treasurer to ensure transparency and financial integrity.
  • Coaches are volunteers and do not receive compensation or any other forms of reimbursement for that privilege unless expressly approved by the NRSA Board of Directors. Coaches may be reimbursed for out-of-pocket team expenses.
  • Coaches with no daughters on their team may have their individual team related travel expenses reimbursed by the team.
  • Coaches are required to maintain complete Financial Records for all financial transactions associated with the operation of their team.
  • Coaches may expend funds for the operation of their individual Travel team (not to exceed revenue), and they are responsible for any deficit incurred by their individual Travel team.
  • Coaches are required to submit an End of Year Financial Statement no later than August 15th, annually to the NRSA Treasurer.

SEPERATION:

  • Coaches serve at the discretion of the NRSA Board of Directors and will be appointed on an annual basis.
  • Coaches understand that the NRSA Board may make all rulings, including suspension, dismissal or transferring participants and coaches, as necessary.
  • Coaches understand that, upon separation from the NRSA, they shall not represent themselves as members of the NRSA and that they have no rights to the team, players, equipment, name or other property of the NRSA.
  • Upon separation from the NRSA, coaches shall turn over all team financial records, access to financial institutions, team fund balances, and any and all team equipment/property, to the NRSA Board of Directors within ten (10) days.

 

I hereby submit that I have read this statement fully and that I understand that I serve at the discretion of the NRSA Board of Directors and that this privilege may be revoked at any time.
